Well meaning tourists had previously visited the village of Bafaluto and made promises of help but nothing had materialised. Brian and Pamela of PING (People in Need - Gambia) did actually return to work with the villagers and do 'something'.That something has become £120,000 of their own money spent on providing the villagers with a clean water supply and a market garden.

Since the Bafaluto project was completed, 9 more villages have asked for assistance, with Njongon, population 800, being the next project.

PING are promising to be as careful with money from donors and sponsors as they have been with their own.  We feel confident that 100% of all monies donated will be put to use in the Gambia on sustainable projects.

What PING have achieved in Bafaluto shows that direct aid and assistance really does work. I have seen it for myself.  They have demonstrated that they mean business and do what they say they are going to do by completing the Bafaluto project - using mostly their own funds- on budget and on schedule.

It is because of the massive quality of life improvements for the whole village of Bafaluto and the wider community that we have chosen to support PING in bringing clean water to other Gambian villages.
